Elon Musk, CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX, recently took to the platform X to encourage users to contribute long-form articles, advocating for citizen journalism.

“I just published my first X Article! Thank you @elonmusk for creating a platform for citizen journalism,” wrote a user of X thanking Musk for creating a platform for citizen journalist.

Replying to the user, Musk wrote – “Publish full-length, complex articles on X!”

Responding to his call, several users have begun posting comprehensive articles on X, marking Musk's endeavor to challenge conventional media powerhouses. Notably, last September, Musk conducted a live-streamed tour of the US-Mexico border.

“Please encourage more citizen journalism! You can do live video easily from your phone. More on-the-ground reporting from regular citizens will change the world,” he posted.

Building on this momentum, Musk has actively promoted citizen journalism on X and extended invitations to journalists to publish directly on the platform, promising enhanced earnings.

Moreover, Musk has transitioned X into an open-source platform, fostering greater community engagement. In a strategic move, Musk is also preparing to launch his own news distribution service, XWire, aiming to disrupt existing news platforms by offering an alternative avenue for company PR news and press releases.

Musk contends that X already provides access to what's deemed relevant in traditional media, underscoring his commitment to revolutionizing the news landscape.
