Elon Musk, the billionaire who acquired Twitter last year and has attempted to transform it, announced the microblogging platform will feature a picture-in-picture mode and 15-second back and forward buttons from next week.
A Twitter user requested Musk introduce the picture-in-picture mode as well as back and forward push buttons for videos. Musk revealed the plan in response. "Coming next week," he replied.
With picture-in-picture mode, users can scroll while watching a video in a minimised frame. YouTube and WhatsApp already offer the feature.
Musk's reply received a positive response from a variety of users. "Thanks. Exactly this feature is one I too want and thought was lacking," one of them said.
In October last year, Musk, who owns Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company, purchased Twitter for $44 billion. He has also introduced a few new features, including Twitter Blue, which allows users to get their accounts verified for free instead of paying $8 a month.
The Twitter Subscriptions feature, introduced in April, lets content creators charge people for access to exclusive tweets, images, and videos, as well as special badges and subscriber-only live audio sessions.
After Musk's takeover, Twitter's revenue dropped by 89 percent, prompting these moves.
Musk claimed last month that most advertisers who left the platform after the acquisition have either returned or are returning, with a few exceptions. Furthermore, he touted increased usage and decent growth on the platform in recent months, without disclosing any specifics.
