BlackBerry Limited has inaugurated the 'BlackBerry IoT Center of Excellence, Engineering, and Innovation' in Hyderabad, underscoring its dedication to enhancing critical embedded software development for the IoT sector.
Situated in Hyderabad, the center is strategically placed among a talented pool of engineers and serves as the Asia-Pacific headquarters for the BlackBerry QNX worldwide developer network.
The primary objective of the BlackBerry IoT CoE in Hyderabad is to support companies in expanding their operations to meet the growing demand for embedded software solutions. It also aims to harness the expertise of India's proficient IoT innovators.
Recruitment efforts have predominantly targeted local talent, offering job opportunities to individuals keen on shaping the future of software-defined vehicles and driving innovation in sectors such as medical technology, industrial control systems, and robotics.
Mattias Eriksson, president of BlackBerry IoT, emphasized Hyderabad's talent pool and the supportive policies of the state government as key factors in selecting the city for the IoT center. The presence of collaborative partners and a conducive ecosystem further influenced the decision.
India boasts the second-largest BlackBerry IoT CoE globally, after Canada, housing teams of embedded software developers with diverse roles and skill sets. These teams collaborate closely with BlackBerry QNX software, renowned across crucial industries for its reliability, safety, and security.
The Hyderabad team, currently comprising sixty personnel, aims to double in size over the coming year. BlackBerry IoT has recently achieved significant milestones, including the launch of QNX Software Development Platform (SDP) 8.0 and QNX Sound, designed to enhance software-defined manufacturing and automotive audio experiences.
Furthermore, BlackBerry IoT plans to introduce QNX Everywhere, a new initiative, in India early in 2024. By democratizing access to QNX development tools, this initiative aims to bolster the pool of highly skilled embedded systems developers in India and other nations.
