Apple is reportedly in talks with Google about bringing back Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging for iPhones. This move is expected to take place later this year (not confirmed), with a substantial impact on India's messaging landscape, which is still reliant on traditional SMS, despite WhatsApp dominance.

Furthermore, this collaboration will further expand Apple's exclusive blue bubble iMessage service, currently exclusive to Apple devices, to Android as well.

According to Inderpal Mumick, CEO of Dotgo, a global RCS platform provider, "Presently, RCS messaging is enabled for person-to-person communication in eight countries, including the US, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, the UK, Belgium, and China."

Now, some might be wondering about what RCS is! So, to answer their question, RCS is an Android and Apple messaging technology that supports rich chat features like video, pictures, and other interactive components. RCS messages enable users to share and receive high-quality media, organize group chats, view typing indicators, and view read receipts.

Therefore, with this idea, Apple aims to provide iPhone users in India with a seamless and enhanced messaging experience while talking with Android users, eliminating reliance on third-party apps for texting while improving business messaging services.
