Apple is moving forward with its next-generation mobile operating system, iOS 19, expected to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. Reports suggest a significant redesign influenced by visionOS, the software powering Apple’s Vision Pro headset.

Industry analyst Mark Gurman, writing in Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter, has described iOS 19 as the most substantial update since iOS 7. He notes that Apple aims to introduce a design overhaul that goes beyond minor interface adjustments.

Apple’s new mobile OS is expected to incorporate visionOS design principles, introducing transparency elements, redesigned windows, and modified button structures. The goal is to unify the user experience across iPhones, iPads, and Macs, ensuring a seamless transition between devices.

Executives at Apple reportedly believe the new software will enhance usability by making navigation faster and interactions more intuitive. The redesign aligns with the company’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence-driven features, reducing reliance on traditional application-based workflows.

Gurman’s report indicates that iOS 19, along with iPadOS 19 and macOS 16, is poised to redefine how users interact with Apple devices over the coming years. The company is expected to introduce these updates in a phased rollout, a pattern observed with iOS 18.

The official launch of iOS 19 is anticipated in September 2025, coinciding with the debut of the iPhone 17 series. However, as seen in previous releases, some features may not be immediately available and could be introduced gradually, extending into 2026.
