Apple has introduced a new service program offering free repairs to specific iPhone 14 Plus users who are experiencing issues with their rear camera preview. This program targets units manufactured between April 10, 2023, and April 28, 2024, which may have rear cameras failing to show a preview when taking photos.

How to Check Your Eligibility

To determine if your iPhone 14 Plus is eligible for this service program, visit the program page on support.apple.com and enter your device’s serial number. You can find your iPhone’s serial number by navigating to Settings > General > About on your phone.

Free Repairs and Refunds

If your iPhone qualifies, you can either visit an Apple Store or an Authorized Service Provider to get the camera issue fixed at no cost. Additionally, if you’ve already paid for a camera repair related to this issue, you might be eligible for a refund.

Apple's Statement

“Apple has determined that the rear camera on a very small percentage of iPhone 14 Plus devices may exhibit no preview. Affected devices were manufactured between April 10, 2023, to April 28, 2024,” Apple states on the program page. “If your iPhone 14 Plus has exhibited this issue, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will provide service, free of charge.”

Past Programs

This is not the first time Apple has launched a service program. In the past, similar initiatives were taken for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models with receiver issues, and for AirPods Pro that emitted a crackling sound. These programs generally cover repairs on affected devices for three years from the original sale date.

Background on the iPhone 14 Plus

Launched in 2022, the iPhone 14 Plus was the first plus-sized model in the modern iPhone lineup, replacing the mini. Since then, Apple has continued to release new plus models annually, with the latest being the iPhone 16 Plus.
