OpenAI is gearing up to unveil its latest AI model, GPT-4.1, as early as next week, according to a report by The Verge. This new release is expected to be an upgraded version of the current GPT-4o, and it will arrive alongside lighter versions — GPT-4.1 Mini and GPT-4.1 Nano.

Earlier this month, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also revealed plans for launching the o3 reasoning model and o4 Mini model, which might debut next week as well.

In a recent changelog shared via TechCrunch, OpenAI confirmed that it will officially phase out the GPT-4 model by April 30, 2025. Explaining the move, OpenAI stated,

“GPT-4o is our newer, natively multimodal model. In head-to-head tests, it consistently outperforms GPT-4 in writing, coding, STEM tasks, and more. With recent improvements in following instructions, problem-solving, and conversational flow, GPT-4o has become the natural successor to GPT-4.”

However, GPT-4 will still be accessible via the API.

Recently, OpenAI enhanced GPT-4o by adding native image generation capabilities, enabling it to create more accurate and visually nuanced images. This has sparked viral trends, including a popular wave of Studio Ghibli-style images created by users.

ChatGPT Now Remembers Your Conversations

In another exciting update, OpenAI has introduced a memory feature for ChatGPT. This allows the chatbot to remember details from previous conversations, making its responses more personalized and context-aware. Whether it’s advice, writing help, or learning support, this feature makes ChatGPT more useful than ever.

For those who prefer privacy or a clean slate, users can easily disable the memory feature in settings or choose temporary chats that won’t retain any history.
