New Google AI Tool Detects and Warns Against Text Scams

Google has introduced an AI-based scam detection feature for Android users, aimed at curbing the growing risk of text message fraud. The tool identifies suspicious patterns in SMS, MMS, and RCS messages in real-time and alerts users when a potential scam is detected.
Google announced that its scam detection tool will analyze incoming messages and provide warnings for suspicious content. When an unknown sender initiates a conversation with misleading or deceptive messages, the AI system flags the text and notifies the user. Once alerted, users can choose to block or report the sender.
According to Google, the detection process leverages advanced AI models to recognize patterns linked to scams, even after the initial message has been received. The feature aims to prevent scams that start as harmless conversations before escalating into fraudulent schemes.
Initially, the scam detection tool will be available in the U.S., U.K., and Canada, with plans for expansion to other regions.
Alongside scam detection, Google is enhancing its Find My app with a new location-sharing function. Android users will be able to share their real-time location with trusted contacts for a specified period. The data will be securely stored, and users will receive periodic reminders about who has access.
Google is also rolling out exclusive features for Pixel users. The Pixel 9 series introduces support for multi-camera streaming, allowing integration with GoPro and other Pixel devices for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.
Pixel Studio now offers new tools for generating stylized images and stickers while incorporating safeguards to prevent misuse. Additionally, Pixel 9 devices gain satellite messaging capabilities via Verizon and T-Mobile, ensuring connectivity in remote areas.
Updates extend beyond smartphones to Pixel Watches and Tablets, enhancing transcription services for Android devices running version 6 and later. The improved feature streamlines the process of transcribing and managing audio recordings.
