Google has unveiled local language support for its AI chatbot, Gemini Live, at the Google for India 2024 event. This expansion aims to enhance accessibility and user experience across India.

Since its launch last December, Gemini 1.0 has been available in three AI model sizes, catering to different processing power requirements and capabilities. The latest update introduces Gemini Live in Hindi, with plans to add eight more languages soon: Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, and Urdu.

Initially exclusive to Gemini Advance subscribers, Gemini Live is now accessible to all Android users, enabling more natural and conversational interactions.

Additionally, Google announced the introduction of 10 new voice types for Gemini Live.

The event also highlighted new AI features in Google Maps, including AI-generated summaries and an AI Overview feature in Google Search with video capabilities. The experimental video feature in Search Labs allows users to record videos using Google Lens and receive AI-generated overviews based on the video’s context, such as cooking videos needing assistance.

The AI Overviews feature, part of the Search Generative Experience (SGE), now provides summaries with relevant reference links, streamlining information retrieval by summarizing key details and reducing the need for multiple website links upfront.
