Google expands AI-powered Gmail tools with new shortcuts

Google is enhancing its AI-driven email drafting and editing features, making them accessible to more users on both web and mobile platforms.

The new update introduces the 'Help me write' shortcut for users with empty email drafts. This tool assists in generating content from scratch. For drafts containing more than 12 words, the 'Polish' shortcut will become available, allowing users to refine and improve their text. These shortcuts can be accessed by clicking the provided options or pressing Ctrl+H for a more polished and readable email.

Mobile users will also benefit from these enhancements, with tools designed to make their email drafts more formal, detailed, or concise, as needed.

Google Workspace customers with the Gemini Business and Enterprise add-on, the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-on, or Google One AI Premium will start seeing these features in the coming days. Meanwhile, updates for Android and iOS users are already live.

Generative AI tools, including email assistants, note-takers, and summarizers, are becoming increasingly popular among businesses and their employees. Competitor Microsoft is also incorporating AI features into its professional software to attract more users.
