As Dussehra approaches on October 12, private bus operators in Andhra Pradesh are exploiting passengers by raising prices.

Many people are heading home for the festival, and non-AC buses now cost between ₹700 and ₹1,000, while AC buses range from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500—well above normal rates.

Prices for Sunday are even steeper, reaching ₹2,000 to ₹3,000, compared to the usual ₹1,000.

Public outrage is rising over the government's and transport department's inaction regarding this issue.

Schools, colleges, and banks will be closed from October 11 to 13 for the Vijayadasami celebrations, which coincide with the end of Navratri that started on October 3.

Today is Mahanavami, leading into the grand festivities tomorrow.

As people get ready to head back to their hometowns for the celebrations, many are frustrated by the rising prices for private bus travel.

With few options available, travelers are facing a tough choice.

Some are willing to pay the higher fares to reunite with family and participate in the festivities, while others are deciding to stay back because the prices have become too steep.

This situation really highlights the challenges of traveling during busy festival times, where demand spikes and affordability becomes a significant issue.
