Visakhapatnam: YSR Congress Party has given a call for 'Visakha Garjana' programme here on October 15 to mobilise support for trifurcation of the capital.
As the JAC (Joint Action Committee) of Amaravati Parirakshana Samiti is on a maha padayatra from Amaravati to Arasavilli in Srikakulam district, the YSRCP leaders have decided to organise Visakha Garjana as a big showdown to counter the demand for retaining Amaravati as the single capital.
"Their decision to undertake the yatra in North Andhra is aimed at instigating the people and creating trouble in the region," minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Botcha Satyanarayana said. Several YSRCP MLAs including Karnam Dharmasri have announced their resignation from Assembly membership to press for trifurcation of the capital.
