Hyderabad: Yediguri Sanditi Sharmila, the daughter of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy who served as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2009, is slated to take political plunge on Friday at a public meeting christened Sankalpa Sabha in Khammam city in Telangana. She is expected to launch her own political party, YSR Telangana Party.
Her political entry into Telangana assumes significance as she is also the sister of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the present Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and has extensively campaigned for him during the 2019 AP Assembly polls.
Her mother YS Vijayamma is also expected to address the public meeting and bless her daughter. Incidentally, she is the honourary president of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) headed by her son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
At the meeting, Sharmila will announce the reasons for her political entry, and a roadmap for her political party. Her followers planned for a massive public meeting for her debut, but rising Covid cases put spokes in their plans. Khammam Police granted permission for the meeting, but with riders - only 6,000 people will be allowed to take part in the meeting and organisers will have to follow Covid protocols without fail.
Konda Raghava Reddy, the ardent follower of Dr YSR family and in-charge for the meeting, said Sharmila would announce plans to bring Rajanna Rajyam in Telangana. "We follow all Covid norms while conducting meeting. It will be a grand success," Reddy told the media in Khammam.
