Having decided not to contest Telangana elections in 2024, Naidu after talks with his Telangana counterpart A Revanth Reddy, held a big roadshow in Hyderabad on Sunday-a day after talks to sort out differences over sharing of assets and liabilities post-bifurcation

Vijayawada: With his new-found confidence after a spectacular comeback to power with a brute majority in Andhra Pradesh inflicting a crushing defeat to YSRCP, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has declared his plans to revive his party in Telangana.generating heat in political circles in both the Telugu-speaking States.

The yellow brigade has been out of power in Telangana since 2004 when then Leader of Opposition Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy led Congress to power in undivided Andhra Pradesh by dislodging Naidu from power. Later Dr YSR was voted back to power in 2009 elections but he was killed the same year in an air crash. Subsequently, K Rosaiah and N Kiran Kumar Reddy became the Chief Ministers in the face of intensified struggle for separate Statehood for Telangana by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (renamed later as Bharat Rashtra Samiti ahead of 2024 general elections).

With Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre granting Statehood to Telangana by dividing Andhra Pradesh, Naidu became the first Chief Minister of AP post-bifurcation in elections held in 2014.

Having decided not to contest Telangana elections in 2024, Naidu after talks with his Telangana counterpart A Revanth Reddy, held a big roadshow in Hyderabad on Sunday--a day after talks to sort out differences over sharing of assets and liabilities post-bifurcation.

Naidu’s declaration on reviving lost glory in Telangana a few days after Jana Sena Party president and AP Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan to strengthen his party in alliance with BJP has fuelled speculation whether Naidu will revive TDP as part of NDA or alone in the neighbouring State.

While Congress leaders say Naidu re-entry in Telangana will help them by low index of opposition unity, a TDP polit bureau member told Bizz Buzz seeking anonymity that with BRS popularity on the wane, they have big scope to emerge as a decisive player in Telangana politics.

Naidu after walking out of NDA in 2018 over denial of Special Category Status, contested Telangana Assembly elections by aligning with Congress.

It may be recalled that TDP focus shifted to AP and building capital at Amaravati after Naidu’s figure along with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who was a TDP MLA then from Kodangal, in the ‘vote for note’ bribery case. After ACB registered the sensational bribery case, Naidu allegedly shifted government employees allocated to Andhra to Amaravati in a hurry, technically giving up the claim over Hyderabad as joint capital for 10 years.

With Naidu emerging as a key player in NDA affairs with 16 Lok Sabha MPs, the highest in the NDA after BJP, there is talk in political circles that the TDP national president will hold a series of roadshows. The roadshows will be aimed at bringing back all those leaders and cadres who left finding no hope for their future to strengthen the yellow brigade in Telangana.

BJP and Congress shared honours by bagging eight Lok Sabha seats each in the elections held recently with AIMIM winning the lone seat of Hyderabad.
