We wanted to honour poet Suravaram Pratap Reddy by renaming PS Telugu University: KTR

Hyderabad: Sircilla MLA KT Rama Rao today recalled that former CM KCR had decided in the previous government to name Potti Sriramulu Telugu University in Nampally after Suravaram Pratap Reddy. KTR made it clear that he would welcome if the decision was taken to name the Telugu University after Suravaram Pratap Reddy.

He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had said he has no objections to name Potti Sriramulu Telugu University after Suravaram Pratap Reddy. KTR made these remarks while reacting to CM Revanth's comments. He also said since KCR has a lot of respect for Suravaram Pratap Reddy, they had taken a decision in the past to name the Telugu University after him. He said out of respect for Suravaram, they had brought the Golakonda Kavulu edition with 394 poets. “We have installed a statue of Kaka, one of the greatest personalities of Telangana, on tank bund. We celebrated the birth anniversary of Iswari Bai.

“We have named Health University in the name of Kaloji, Veterinary University in the name of PV Narasimha Rao, Horticulture University in the name of Konda Lakshman Bapuji, Agriculture University in the name of Jayashankar and Agriculture College in Sircilla named after Babu Jagjivan Ram,” he said, adding that there was a culture in Telangana to respect great personalities beyond politics. I urge the Congress Government to continue this trend. We will also welcome the sport policy. We have constructed a Telangana rural sports complex in every village.
