Vizag Port, AP govt sign MoU to protect beach
Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on Wednesday entered into an agreement with the government of Andhra Pradesh under the “Sagara Theera Swatchata” programme by adopting a part of the beach in the city.

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) on Wednesday entered into an agreement with the government of Andhra Pradesh under the "Sagara Theera Swatchata" programme by adopting a part of the beach in the city.
As per the agreement, VPA will adopt a portion of beach and will take care of the protection of the beach portion allotted to it. This once again indicates the determination of the organisation in achieving Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar, a senior official of VPA said.
The port is actively participating in the Prime Minister flagship programmes Swachh Bharat and Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar since the date of the announcement of the programmes by PM Narendra Modi, the official said adding that, VPA is one among the few government organisations observing Swachh Bharat programme at regular intervals and on every special occasions.
The flagship programme Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar is observed during the 75 days campaign period till September 17.
