UP CM Yogi tests Covid positive

Lucknow: Ahead of Panchayat elections, Corona wave seems to have hit Uttar Pradesh in a big way. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav and several bureaucrats were tested positive for Covid-19 on the same day. At least 12 IAS officers in the state contracted infection on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's OSD Abhishek Kaushik has also tested Covid positive. Majority of the officials are in home isolation and are being treated by medical teams. Besides, 20 officials in finance department are learnt to have contracted the virus as well.
In a tweet, the Chief Minister said that in view of the preliminary symptoms, he had got himself tested and the report showed that he was positive for Covid-19. He had stated on Tuesday evening that he is isolating himself after a number of officials in his secretariat tested positive for Covid.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh also tweeted and advised all those who had come into contact with him in recent days, to get themselves tested. He said that he had isolated himself at home and taking treatment as per prescribed protocol. He had recently visited Haridwar where he met a number of saints and seers. Some of the saints, including Mahant Narendra Giri, later tested positive for Covid.
