Contrary to expectations, both the YSR Congress Party and the Telugu Desam Party have chosen to exercise caution in their reactions to Tuesday’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) attachment of properties belonging to a Hyderabad-based firm in connection with the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation fund diversion case.

Though the case was registered by the AP CID Department when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was at the helm as the Chief Minister and then TDP president and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested at midnight from a function hall at Nandyal during a public contact programme on September 9, 2023 for his alleged involvement in the case, the opposition party has not reacted on expected lines over the Tuesday’s development.

Though there is buzz that ED has given a clean chit to Naidu, who is now the Chief Minister of the State following his landslide win in May, 2024 general elections, the TDP and its allies have not hailed the development. The ED is yet to make any statement on the issue. Naidu was granted a conditional bail after a battery of lawyers fought for him in both the AP High Court and the Supreme Court. ED’s Hyderabad zonal office attached properties worth Rs 23.54 crore in AP Skill Development Corporation scam (Siemens project) bringing the sensational case back to the limelight.
