Rajamahendravaram: YSRCP leaders have hit out at TDP for their claim over success of two-day Mahanadu, the biannual meeting of the party founded by legendary actor late N T Rama Rao, while the leadership of the yellow brigade sounded the poll bugle urging the people and party rank and file to revive the ‘Bring Naidu Back’ campaign.
Sounding the poll bugle, TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu called to end the ‘demon’ rule by YSRCP headed by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Party leaders paid glowing tributes to NTR, the founder of TDP on the occasion of his birth centenary celebrations.
YSRCP leaders and Ministers Botcha Satyanarayana, R K Roja and MLA Perni Nani alleged that Naidu, who usurped power from his father-in-law leading to the death of NTR, had no right to utter his name to get votes. They said Naidu in a desperate bid to come to power was trying to spread a bunch of lies to hoodwink people on the so-called achievements of the government headed by him during 2014-19.
After unveiling the party flag and statue of NTR, Naidu lambasted the YSRCP Government for worsening the financial crisis in Andhra Pradesh and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of involvement in the murder of his uncle and former Minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
During the two-day Mahanadu which concluded here on Sunday, he said due to fiscal indiscipline and borrowings from various institutes, the State has fallen into a debt trap. The TDP supremo said the State revenue has been hit very badly during the ‘destructive’ rule of Jagan Mohan Reddy and called upon the intellectuals to ponder over how the State is adversely hit in this ‘psycho and Tuglaq’ rule. He alleged that the CBI itself declared that Jagan Mohan Reddy knew in advance regarding the murder of his uncle before the incident was reported to the police. Vivekananda Reddy was found in a pool of blood at his home at Pulivendula just before the general elections in 2019 when Naidu was the Chief Minister.
Participating in the debate on the resolution on the welfare of the poverty-stricken forward classes adopted at the Mahanadu, Naidu felt that the revenue of Andhra Pradesh was once much higher than Telangana but now it has fallen so low. From day one, the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has been functioning with the sole aim of destroying the State, the former Chief Minister alleged.
When the revenue of both the States was almost similar in 2019, after YSRCP came to power due to his destructive rule there was such a huge difference in revenue of the two States, the TDP supremo stated. The revenue in Telangana is 40 per cent higher than Andhra Pradesh and this is because of the development of the State during the TDP regime, he noted.
Had all the projects including Amaravati been completed, Andhra Pradesh would have flourished well, the TDP president said adding in 2019 the revenue through GST in Andhra Pradesh was Rs 24.957 crore while in Telangana it was Rs 18,779 crore, Rs 6,000 crore more revenue in Andhra Pradesh than Telangana. However, by 2022-23 the GST revenue in Andhra Pradesh was Rs 38,840 crore as against Rs 41,888 crore in Telangana. All this because there are no business activities in Andhra Pradesh, he felt.
The revenue through registrations wing was Rs 5,427 crore in Andhra Pradesh during 2018-19 while in Telangana it was Rs 5,344 crore and in 2022-23 the revenue through the same department was Rs 8,022 crore as against Rs 14,228 crore in Telangana, Naidu pointed out. Earlier, TDP general secretary Varla Ramaiah read out a report.
