Vijayawada: With speculation that YS Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be made a star campaigner of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh after her induction into the party in Delhi on Thursday, she may offer an olive branch to disgruntled leaders of YSRCP to take the 'theertham' of the grand old party.

During her visit to Idupulupaya in YSR Kadapa district on Tuesday, she confirmed reports that she has been invited by the Congress high command to join the party. During recently held Telangana Assembly elections, she supported the Congress and her party YSR Telangana Party opted out of the contest. Congress has been out of power in AP and drew a blank in both 2014 and 2019 elections due to resentment across the State over the way it was bifurcated during the UPA regime.
