Rich tributes paid to tricolour designer Pingali Venkaiah

Vijayawada: Cutting across party lines, glowing tributes were paid to freedom fighter and designer of the National Flag Pingali Venkaiah across Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of his 146th birth anniversary. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy offered tributes at his camp office at Tadepalli near here on Tuesday. As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Chief Minister hoisted the national flag and took the salute from the police.
Official functions were held at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Kadapa and other places. The Chief Minister also inaugurated a photo exhibition on the life and times of Pingali Venkaiah. On this occasion, he unveiled the portrait of Pingali Venkaiah which was painted by the Director of Culture Department Regulla Mallikharjuna Rao.
