Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy commemorated the 198th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on April 11 (Thursday), acknowledging the profound sacrifices and invaluable contributions of the revered social activist to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted Phule's remarkable journey from a common man to a distinguished social reformer, underscoring him as a paragon for all. He emphasized Phule's unwavering crusade against caste discrimination, citing him as a beacon for future generations striving for social equality.

"Mahatma Jyotiba Phule's indomitable spirit and lifelong dedication to combating discrimination and advocating for equality in society remain a source of inspiration," stated CM Revanth Reddy.

He further elaborated on the legacy of Phule, whose path for the upliftment of backward classes and Dalits continues to resonate as a guiding light. The Chief Minister reiterated the state government's commitment to innovative programs aligned with the ethos of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule.

"In the spirit of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, our government has renamed Pragati Bhavan to Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Praja Bhavan from the very first day of our tenure," announced CM Revanth Reddy. "We have introduced several initiatives aimed at empowering women, including free bus travel and gas cylinders priced at Rs 500 under the Mahalakshmi scheme," he added.

Acknowledging the importance of commemorating Phule's legacy officially, the Chief Minister affirmed that the state government is organizing Phule Jayanthi celebrations as part of its ongoing commitment to social progress and inclusivity.
