PM unveils `1288 cr Vizag Port projects

Visakhapatnam: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated/laid foundation stone for four prestigious projects of Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) virtually from New Delhi coinciding with the Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) which began in Mumbai on Tuesday.
As part of efforts to become world-class, VPA has taken up mechanisation activities through PPP mode in a big way. The port is mechanising its activities at four berths viz. EQ-7, WQ-7, WQ-8, and WQ-6 with an investment of Rs.655.00 crore. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for these four projects today virtually.
The PM also inaugurated Phase-2 extension of Visakha Container Terminal Private Ltd (VCTPL) on DBFOT basis. The total cost of this project is Rs.633.00 crore. The laying of foundation stone and dedication was arranged at Visakha Container terminal premises where the officials from VPA, employees from VCTPL, JM Baxi Group and Bothra Shipping participated in large numbers.
