MP For Immediate Starting Of Railway Zone

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam MP Matukumilli Sribharat has asked the Union Government to take steps for immediate operationalisation of South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) with Visakhapatnam as the headquarters.

The operationalisation of the SCoR is anticipated to bolster regional connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and generate substantial employment opportunities, further strengthening Visakhapatnam's strategic importance in India's railway network.

Raising the issue during Question Hour in Lok Sabha, he highlighted the critical need to expedite the operationalisation of the new zone. Recalling that the zone's establishment was mandated under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, and its headquarters were declared in Visakhapatnam in February 2019, he expressed concern over the prolonged delay of five years caused by land allocation issues.

Sribharat commended the proactive measures taken by the NDA government after assuming power earlier this year and acknowledged the swift resolution of land disputes by the State Government, which has put the project back on track.
