Mumbai: THE current government at the Centre is working for big corporate houses like Adani and Ambani. This is the allegation which has been levelled by Udit Raj, who has recently assumed charge as president of All India Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress.
Six BJP ruled States including UP and MP have changed the labour laws to strip the workers from their rights. Now they can be hired and fired without reasons and compensations.
Around ten thousand of unorganised workers and employees including other Congress leaders and activists assembled to compliment to Udit Raj for taking over the charge. There is no strong organisation in the country to fight for unorganised workers' miseries. The unorganised workers are subject to a big exploitation and harassments. A strong support is needed to mitigate their day-to-day problems.
Rahul Gandhi was pained to see their plights and wanted to have an organisation like All India Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress (Kamgar and Karmachari Congress- KKC). This organisation has been rechristened as All India Unorganised Sector Workers and Employees (KKC) and now employees have become part of it. The Congress governments had taken up various welfare measures for unorganised workers, which are now dying. KKC is determined to revoke those welfare schemes like providing subsidies on subsistence items, kept minor trade and commerce activities out of tax liabilities. During the Congress rule, unorganised workers were extended facilities like ESI, Micro Credit, Social Security Cover through schemes like – National Pension Scheme, 'Micro Insurance Policies of LIC, Swavalamban Scheme and SGSRY. In the rural India so many schemes were launched for them and MGNREGA proved life-saving to millions.
This scheme is dying in various States due to lack of funds from the Centre, Udit Raj, said while taking over the charge. He thanked Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for bestowing this huge responsibility. He said that ever since Modi's government is in power, all social welfare services / schemes are on the verge of death. Rights like industrial disputes, job security, work conditions and health related regulations are on the way to go. All India Unorganised Workers and Employees have pledged to get new labour laws repealed. Demonetisation had hit the workers worst. Crores of unorganised workers walked empty stomach and bare foot and many died during the Covid 19. Modi govt did not help them in any way and it was witnessed by the whole world, said Rajesh Nimbalkar, National Coordinator. Unorganised Workers and Employees Congress.
Udit Raj said that the Congress party has brought employees under this organisation. Hitherto they were not part of Congress. The Govt employment has come to a halt and the PSUs and Government assets and entities are sold at throw away price. The RSS background people are recruited through lateral entry in Govt of India which were hitherto occupied by IAS and equivalent services. The coveted civil services jobs are being denied to those youths who are brilliant. Millions of youths were preparing to get through civil services and other white collar jobs but this government has shattered their dreams.
We will fight for these youths to get the jobs and currently about 80 lakh positions are lying vacant in Central and State Governments. Vajpayee government discontinued the Govt employees' pension and that needs to be restored. The Prime Minister said in the Parliament that the job of the government is not to do the businesses.
