Hyderabad: With the Indian National Congress (INC) securing comfortable majority in Telangana Assembly polls on Sunday, the question in everyone’s mind now is whether Anumula Revanth Reddy, president, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, will become the next Chief Minister of Telangana.

It goes without saying that Revanth Reddy has been instrumental in reviving the Congress party and bringing it to power. In addition to inviting influential leaders from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and other parties into Congress, he also toured extensively across Telangana and campaigned for Congress candidates. He participated in 87 meetings across 63 constituencies during the electioneering.

“Making Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister is imperative for Congress as it has lost elections in three key States in North India in this round of election. Obviously, Congress will need a strong leader at the helm in Telangana if it doesn’t want political instability in the State,” a political analyst told Bizz Buzz.

Another political analyst said that Revanth Reddy seems to be having support of majority Congress MLAs. “Besides, people also expect Congress to make him Chief Minister as he is the most popular Congress leader in the State,” he added.

Mahender, a farmer from Chennur constituency in Mancherial district, said Revanth Reddy would be the most suitable candidate for the post of Chief Minister as he played key role reviving Congress and winning the elections. “The State will suffer a lot if Congress makes any other person as the Chief Minister,” he said.
