Visakhapatnam: BJP alliance with Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party is now official.
National president of BJP J.P. Nadda in a joint statement on Saturday announced the formation of alliance with TDP and JSP in Andhra Pradesh.
TDP will make reentry into NDA after a gap of six years. It walked out of the alliance in 2018 due to differences over denial of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
Nadda welcomed the two parties' decision and underscored the need to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu and JSPL founder and Tollywood star Pawan Kalyan finalised the alliance after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah for second time in three days.
According to speculations, TDP and JSP have been jointly allotted 30 Assembly and eight Lok Sabha seats. They will announce the constituencies from where they will contest later. Sources said BJP may get six Lok Sabha and seven Assembly seats.
In a tweet on X, Nadda said "I wholeheartedly welcome the decision of Shri @ncbn and Shri @PawanKalyan to join the NDA family. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi ji, BJP, TDP, and JSP are committed to the progress of the country and the upliftment of the state and people of Andhra Pradesh."
Reacting to the alliance, YSRCP general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said it will not make any impact on the electoral prospects of their party.
