Industry lauds focus on sustainability

Hyderabad: Industry experts lauded the sustainable measures announced by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Union Budget. Calling it a 'green budget', they expressed that it defines the roadmap for achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. This budget marks a significant step towards a more sustainable future for India.

C Shekar Reddy, Chairman of IGBC Hyderabad Chapter and Vice Chairman of CII Telangana appreciated the strong focus on sustainability. CII being one of the pioneers in promoting and strengthening green buildings movement, it is encouraging to see sustainability initiatives in the Budget, he said.

Rajesh Khosla, CEO, and President, AGI Glaspac, said: "The emphasis on inclusive development and green growth aligns with global sustainable development goals. To stay competitive in the global market, it is crucial for manufacturing companies to meet ESG standards."

"Green Hydrogen Mission, Green Credit Programme, PM-PRANAM, and GOBARdhan scheme emphasised in this budget will play a crucial role in meeting these standards, reducing carbon intensity, and creating numerous green job opportunities in this sector in India," he added.

Manish Bhatnagar, MD of SKF India Ltd, said: "The budget is progressive and growth-oriented given the focus on capex, green mobility, clean energy, and agriculture. We remain committed to achieving net-zero emissions across all our production facilities by 2030 and across our supply chain by 2050."
