Visakhapatnam: Union Ministry Of Power-led Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has asked all the States including Andhra Pradesh to make strong efforts for deepening of Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Scheme by identifying new energy intensive industries and sectors for accelerated adoption of efficient and low-carbon technologies.
The BEE has played influential role to enhance energy efficiency in industrial sector through efficient energy use, energy cost reduction and greenhouse gas emissions reduction through PAT and achieved savings of 24.27 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe) energy worth of Rs 45,000 crore in first three cycles of PAT with the investment of Rs 70,000 crore by industries in PAT across the country. This has led to a total emission reduction of more than 100 million tonnes of CO2, which is four per cent of the country's emissions as against 1.16 Mtoe savings by 52 industries (designated consumers) of Andhra Pradesh till Cycle-five.
During the regional workshop on PAT scheme being organised by Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), State Designated Agency of AP in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, Director of BEE Milind Deore said that the Government of India has made impressive progress in recent years in accelerating energy efficiency in industrial sectors through its flagship PAT Scheme and many of the sectors covered under it like cement and refineries.
"I appreciate AP for its efforts in successful implementation of the PAT Scheme. Thanks to the industries and energy department for their effective coordination and in fact AP is the best performing State even in PAT scheme," he said.
