Govt committed to welfare of skilled artisans: Min Chauhan
Says Viswakarma Yojana, which is aimed to support traditional artisans and craftspeople will really achieve its goal in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Coinciding with the launching of PM Viswakarma Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Sunday on the occasion of Viswakarma Jayanthi, Devusinh Chauhan, Union Minister of State for Communications attended a function here at Sagarmala Conventions where he reiterated the commitment to ensure the wellbeing of the skilled artisans.
Among others, Gudivada Amarnath, AP Minister for Industries and Commerce; GVL Narasimha Rao, Rajya Sabha MP; Saurabh Prasad, Divisional Railway Manager; Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Operations); Sudhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM (Infra) and Suneetha Gandhram, CEO, Gandham Agro & Gandham Flora were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Chauhan, said that Visakhapatnam is the hub of employees with the vast infrastructure, organisations, huge establishments like Railways and Navy with rich source of employment for Viswakarmis. The scheme, which is aimed to support traditional artisans and craftspeople by providing skill training, credit support, incentive for digital transaction, toolkit incentive and marketing support, will really achieve its goal in this city.
Elaborating various schemes and incentives initiated by the Central Government, he said India has the immense potential of rich heritage to lead the global market in economy and manufacturing sectors. He appreciated Waltair Division for setting up of One Station One Product (OSOP) stalls with Etikoppaka toys at Visakhapatnam and the excellent arrangements made for the launch program.
Amarnath said that India is heading to lead the global economy by reaching to third position in near future and encouraging traditional crafts of India and providing assistance to artisans is a welcoming move by the Prime Minister.
In her address, Gandhram highlighted the important initiatives taken by the Government of India and Andhra Pradesh to uplift skilled artisans in the unorganized sector, and emphasized that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme will definitely give a boost to the traditional economy of India.
