Energy efficiency hallmark of Jagananna housing

Vijayawada: The State Government has laid strong foundation to implement India's biggest energy efficiency (EE) project in India's biggest housing scheme of Jagananna Colonies, according to Special Chief Secretary, Housing Ajay Jain.
As part of this, for the first time in India, Andhra Pradesh Government has taken initiative to facilitate best quality energy efficient appliances at highly cost effective prices to 15.60 lakh houses under phase-1 of India's biggest Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu (NPI) housing scheme, which is expected to save 734 units of energy per house per annum worth around Rs. 350 crore for 15.6 lakh houses per annum and help to improve the quality of life of beneficiaries.
During the virtual review meeting conducted with housing officials and APSEEDCO, the Special CS said on Sunday that the State has proposed to implement energy efficiency measures and provide the best electricity infrastructure and supply energy efficiency appliances at lesser rates than market prices to the beneficiaries of the housing scheme.
He said that, during the launching of Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu (NPI) housing programme, the government announced that it would make arrangements to facilitate cost effective energy efficient appliances (4 LED bulbs, 2 LED tube lights and two energy efficient fans to each beneficiary of the housing scheme.
Accordingly AP State Housing Department has proposed to take up the procurement of energy efficient appliances with the support of APSEEDCO through Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture company of four Central Public Sector Undertakings.
