Cong, BJP workers clash at Mancherial

Hyderabad: Polling for the Graduate MLC elections in Telangana began at 8 am on Thursday. At some places, there was peace and at some places there was tension. An argument broke out between BJP and the ruling Congress party factions at the Teegal Pahad polling station in Naspur municipality of Mancherial district, leading to a tense situation.
Following this, the BJP activists staged a protest alleging that their party leader was manhandled by a local SI. The Congress workers were attacked by the BJP workers. They pelted stones at each other. Tension prevailed between the two warring groups and the police intervened and dispersed both the groups. The situation was brought under control later.
Ramagundam Police Commissioner Srinivas reviewed the situation to avoid any untoward incident. He rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Both parties have taken this election as a prestige issue. In the run-up to the Graduate MLC elections, a large number of the BJP and the Congress cadres have been deployed at polling booths since Thursday morning.
