CM lays stone for Skill University; says lakhs will benefit
The courses will be offered by collecting a nominal fee of Rs 50,000 every year

Hyderabad: Government is establishing Young India Skills University to provide all kinds of skills for all, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said today while laying foundation stone for Skill University here.
Earlier, addressing the Assembly, he spoke eloquent of the Skill University. Underscoring that the world is witnessing shortage of skilled people, he said we need to bring changes in our policies in tune with advancement of the world. Unemployment has been increasing due to lack of professional skills, he added.
A total of 2,000 students will get admissions this year. Six courses will be introduced in the first year. Some organisations have come forward to provide training and jobs.
17 Skill development courses are being introduced in the university. Trained students will be given certificates after completing the course in the University.
The courses will be offered by collecting a nominal fee of Rs 50,000 every year. Students from SC, ST and BC categories will be provided skill development courses free of cost through fee reimbursement scheme. Skill University aims to provide employment to lakhs of youths.
The State Government is planning to establish colleges and provide training in the districts in the future.
We would have been happy if the main Opposition leaders gave suggestions on the Skills University. Instead, the Opposition stayed away from participating in the debate and staged a walk out.
Recounting the yeoman service done by the past leaders to the nation, the chief minister said Mahatma Gandhi launched Young India magazine and the Government is setting up Skill University inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas.
Former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru introduced five year plan by according importance to Education and Agriculture. Residential schools were also opened, Revanth Reddy said.
Indira Gandhi launched scholarship scheme to encourage students to pursue their studies. Rajiv Gandhi made technology accessible to the country and laid foundation for the development of IT sector in Hyderabad, he added.
The chief minister appealed to all members of the House to attend the foundation laying programme for Skill University.
BRS focus on political gains
BRS leaders focused only on political gains and neglected people's issues in the house. The BRS leaders obstructed the house from debating farm loan waiver scheme by using women MLAs as puppets. I consider the women MLAs my own sisters. Posting insulting memes against minister Seethakka on social media is unwarranted. Isn't it insulting to the tribal girl child? The CM argued. I appeal to my sisters don't fall into the Opposition trap, Revanth Reddy said.
The Opposition leader went to New Delhi and entered a secret deal despite his own sister has been jailed. KCR is not attending assembly sessions as he does not want to sit in the front bench. Congress gave political life to KCR and Harish Rao also got a minister post. The Opposition is creating ruckus in the house when they are given mike. They are staging protest before podium when they are denied opportunity.
