Visakhapatnam: Women entrepreneurs from Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) explained about their experience after a successful trip to Cambodia as part of a goodwill visit.

The delegation comprising VCCI women’s wing president Jeeja Valsaraj, Dr Sudha, Dr Betsy Williams and Revathi Kancherla shared their experiences with other members here on Saturday.

Jeeja observed that in India, in spite of the positions held by women, there is ‘less visibility’ for them in leadership positions in public administration and enterprises particularly women, which is only 13.76 per cent of the total entrepreneurs in India according to the Ministry of Statistics.

In contrast 61 per cent of Cambodia’s business people are women and the women of India can benefit from such a delegation, where they get an opportunity to learn from the success stories of Cambodian women, she added.

She shared that they were inspired by visiting Cambodian women workplaces particularly interacting in buyer-seller meet and B2B meetings. She briefed about the discussions they held on business models with Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) of Siem Reap, Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA), Siem Reap chapter, Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), Junior Chamber International Cambodia (JCI Cambodia) and FASMEC representing the SME sector.
