‘BJP's Decision Final’: Shinde Drops Big Hints On Maharashtra CM As Fadnavis Speculation Grows
“Maharashtra’s Chief Minister’s post is stuck (for now), but he (Eknath Shinde) has given Prime Minister Narendra Modi full discretion over his plans for the state, and he will not create any obstacle in their way,” he said, referring to the impasse for the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s post. He also insisted that he had toiled hard as a common citizen for the larger good of common people, insisting that according to him, 'CM' denoted 'common man.' His body language conveyed confidence, suggesting he did not feel unfairly treated, regardless of the circumstances.
Eknath Shinde stated that he completely trusts PM Modi's call and knows that Modi has a clear idea of who is needed as the chief minister and the government in Maharashtra. "I spoke to PM Modi yesterday over Maharashtra elections and assured him of all my support, my full support for his plans for Mahayuti and Maharashtra," Shinde told reporters at his residence in Thane.
"I told him that just as his words were final for the BJP, they were final for us as well," said the Shiv Sena leader.
He emphasized his journey of working as one among the people, for the people. "To me, ' Maharashtra CM,' stands for 'common man,' not 'chief minister,'" Shinde remarked.
The Chief Minister is likely to make an announcement only after that.
On Wednesday, Shinde said he had told Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah a day earlier that what he is doing will not come in the way of the new government being formed.
Shinde stepped down from his Maharashtra CM post on Tuesday, following which the governor asked him to continue as the caretaker CM. The term of the Maharashtra Assembly, whose five years were to end on November 26, had to go for the elections again.
