The vote counting for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections commenced at 8 am, drawing nationwide attention as people watched to see if the exit poll predictions would hold true, potentially securing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's NDA a historic third consecutive term. For any party or coalition to form a government, it must secure at least 272 out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats.
The NDA has already claimed one seat in Surat unopposed, while the counting of votes for the remaining 542 seats is currently underway. If the NDA wins, Narendra Modi will become the only Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to achieve three consecutive terms.
Early trends indicated that the BJP-led NDA was leading as the counting began. Modi's BJP is aiming for a third term, while the Congress-led opposition seeks to oust them. Most exit polls have predicted a victory for Modi, a significant event in India's political landscape.
Simultaneously, counting is also ongoing for the State Legislative Assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, covering 175 constituencies. As per early trends, the TDP-led alliance has also crossed the magic figure mark in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, results for bypolls in 25 Assembly constituencies are being processed.
To ensure the smooth counting of votes for over 8,000 candidates in this general election, stringent security measures have been put in place. As the votes are being counted in this election, which saw a huge turnout, the future of many political leaders will soon be clear. Early results show the NDA doing very well, suggesting a potentially historic outcome.
