Arrest Of Naidu A Turning Point For Andhra: MP Bharat

Visakhapatnam: TDP leader and MP from Visakhapatnam Mathukumilli Sribharat, popular as Bharat, on Monday said the arrest of TDP supromo N Chandrababu Naidu is considered a turning point for restoration of democracy in Andhra Pradesh.
The MP later called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and thanked her for support in sanctioning a Rs14,440-crore revival package for Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Participating in the discussion in Lok Sabha on the President's address, he said on September 9, 2023, Naidu was unjustly arrested, marking a dark chapter in the State’s history. Sribharat recalled the day of Naidu’s release on October 31, 2023, and how it left a profound impact on him and millions of people across Andhra Pradesh.
"I can still vividly recall that moment – tears welled up in my eyes as I saw him from my car window. After 14 hours, we welcomed him in Vijayawada, and that moment became a historic turning point," he said. Between 2020 and 2023, the State Government functioned by instilling fear rather than governance, he said, asserting that in a democracy, power should always be in the hands of the people. "Even in times of adversity, a small ray of hope is enough to move forward," he remarked. Analysing the political shifts of 2023-2024 through Newton’s Third Law, Sribharat stated, "every action has an equal and opposite reaction." He reminded that no deceitful government can sustain itself forever. "You can fool some people for some time, but you can never fool all the people forever," he declared. Looking ahead to 2025, Sribharat emphasised the need for democratic restoration, judicial integrity, and governance that rebuilds public trust. "The previous government demonstrated how power can be misused. Now, we in the NDA will show how power can be used for the people. That is our promise to Andhra Pradesh." Sribharat presented a detailed perspective on Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape.
