AP keen on thermal comfort at govt housing
As part of its concerted efforts to make the gigantic housing scheme of Andhra Pradesh as the best energy efficient housing programme in the country, the AP Housing Department is planning to implement a demonstration project in the model house by facilitating cool roof that helps improving thermal comfort of the beneficiaries to a greater extent and enhance energy efficiency in the houses.

Vijayawada: As part of its concerted efforts to make the gigantic housing scheme of Andhra Pradesh as the best energy efficient housing programme in the country, the AP Housing Department is planning to implement a demonstration project in the model house by facilitating cool roof that helps improving thermal comfort of the beneficiaries to a greater extent and enhance energy efficiency in the houses.
During a roundtable meeting on facilitating cool roof adoption by showcasing its impact on thermal comfort in affordable housing in AP with AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), Indo-Swiss BEEP and Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) officials held here, Special Chief Secretary for Housing Ajay Jain (who is on the district tours and participated virtually) emphasised the need for the housing corporation to fully study in-depth the impact of cool roof with the co-operation of experts.
He said that AP may be the first State in the country which is going to construct around 28.3 lakh houses with modern global energy efficient technologies to improve energy efficiency that will help to considerably reduce temperatures, enhance thermal comfort in residential buildings and substantial reduction in energy consumption apart from reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. He said the ultimate goal of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is to provide the best services for enhancing the quality of life of the beneficiaries and welcomed the initiative of cool roof in housing sector.
