All Set For Smooth Conduct Of Telangana MLC Elections

Hyderabad: All arrangements are in place for the MLC elections for the Medak-Nizamabad-Karimnagar-Adilabad Graduate and teacher constituencies to be held on Thursday. The polling will be held from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Election Returning Officer and Karimnagar District Collector Pamela Satpathy visited the distribution and reception centers for election material and ballot boxes set up at Dr BR Ambedkar Stadium in the district headquarters on Wednesday. She directed the presiding officers, staff and officials performing election duties and also discussed with officers for the route map to the polling stations in the district.
Pamela Satpathy advised the officials to once again raise awareness about the locking system and sealing of ballot boxes, stating that the polling material should be checked.
Disclosing the details related to the MLC elections, the Election Returning Officer said a total of 56 candidates are in the fray for the Graduate MLC post and 15 for the Teacher post. "There are 3,55,159 Graduate MLC voters while 27,088 voters of Teacher MLC. There are 499 Graduate polling stations and 274 teachers polling stations in all districts. Similarly, 93 common polling stations (Graduates, Teachers) have been set up and the elections will be held in a total of 773 polling stations in all districts," she said.
In this election, voters are asked to exercise their right to vote by showing one of the 12 types of identity cards allowed by the Central Election Commission, along with their voter identity card. After the polling ends, the ballot boxes from all districts will be moved to the reception center at Ambedkar Stadium in Karimnagar amid tight security. Section 144 will be implemented at the polling
stations with tight security.
