AK Jain appointed as PNGRB chairman

New Delhi: The government has appointed seasoned bureaucrat and gas sector expert Anil Kumar Jain as the new chairman of the oil and gas sector regulatory body, PNGRB, an official order said. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of Jain, who retired as coal secretary in October last year, as the new chairman of the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). The ACC has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, based on the recommendations of the Search Committee, for the appointment of Anil Kumar Jain.

Ravneet Kaur is new CCI chief

New Delhi: The government has appointed Ravneet Kaur as the Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI), according to an official order. There has been no full-time Chairperson for the competition regulator since Ashok Kumar Gupta demitted office in October 2022. CCI Member Sangeeta Verma has been acting as the Chairperson since October last year. The appointment of Ravneet Kaur, a 1988 Punjab cadre IAS officer, will be for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge or till the date of attaining the age of 65 years or until further orders, whichever is the earliest, as per the order dated May 15.

Boomitra pledges $200 mn in carbon finance

New York: An international soil carbon marketplace, founded by a Karnataka-born entrepreneur, will deliver $200 million in carbon finance to farmers and ranchers in the developing world by 2025 to scale the deployment of climate-smart agriculture. Boomitra founder Aadith Moorthy spoke at the recently concluded Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM for Climate) Summit in Washington hosted by the United States. The Summit, supported by Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), aims to bring together partners to increase and accelerate investment in and support for agriculture and food systems innovation for climate action.

Sona Comstar inks pact with Equipmake

New Delhi: Auto component maker Sona BLW Precision Forgings on Tuesday said it has inked a technology licensing agreement with the UK-based Equipmake for production of electric vehicle components. Equipmake has patented technology which offers high power density and efficiency with high performance, making it ideal for electric cars, buses, and commercial vehicles. Under the agreement, Equipmake will license certain patented spoke motor and inverter technology in the power range of 100kW to 440kW to Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) to manufacture and sell EV powertrains, sub-systems, and components for electric cars, buses, commercial vehicles and off-road vehicles.
