Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has adopted a multipronged strategy to ramp up production and put it back on the right track with profitability to achieve a turnaround.
In his 75th Republic Day address at a parade organised at Trishna Grounds in Ukkunagaram Township, RINL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Atul Bhatt said to face challenges ahead in 2024, RINL has designed a robust and multi-thronged approach for making turnaround of the plant.
Bhatt exuded confidence that 2024 will be a very promising year for RINL and gave a clarion call for the RINL collective to make 2024 a memorable and profitable year for the company with concerted efforts. “Based on one of the turnaround strategies, blowing in of the Blast Furnace-3 has been done on December 30, 2023 following an MoU with Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) and the starting and ramping up of the production from BF-3 (Annapurna) is smooth and production has already touched 4600 tonnes/ day in January, 2024,” he disclosed.
“The steel industry is one of the leading drivers of the Indian economy. Indian government is giving lot of thrust for the overall development with the infrastructure projects such as industrial corridors, dedicated freight corridors, Bharatmala, Sagarmala and other schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana; Har Ghar Jal Scheme; Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the flagship ‘Make in India’ programme.
