YCP Social Media activists Receive Police Notices in unprecedented move to “harass”
Notice that was sent to the YCP WhatsAPP users in Pendyala
Hyderabad: In an alarming escalation of harassment towards YSRCP social media activists in Andhra Pradesh, the police actions reached new heights on Monday. In a disturbing move, the Kanchikacherla Sub-Inspector of Police has issued notices to 171 residents of Pendyala village. These individuals are merely members of a WhatsApp group named “Pendyala MPP Group” and have no other affiliation or involvement.
This unprecedented action is not only shocking but also unprecedented in the history of Andhra Pradesh, where a large number of villagers have been served police notices solely for their participation in a social media group. Such actions are a blatant infringement on the rights of citizens to communicate and participate in social and community discussions. It signals a worrying trend of overreach, targeting individuals for harmless online association and expression.
