UoH alumunus Nagaraju Maddirala appointed secretary in Union finance mininistry
Hyderabad: University of Hyderabad (UoH) alumnus Nagaraju Maddirala, has been appointed Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Union Ministry of Finance. He completed MA in Philosophy from the UoH during 1988-90. He also served as president of the UoH Students' Union during his stay at the University. In 2019, Nagaraju delivered a lecture on economic reforms of the 1990s as part of the Alumni Speaker Series at UoH.
Nagaraju has been the Additional Secretary under the Centre's Ministry of Coal since November 2020. He had been a Joint Secretary to the Ministry for nearly nine months before this. He served at State, national, and international levels in the areas of public order, revenue and development administration, tribal development, finance, international economic relations, industries and commerce, healthcare and State finances.
During 2004-08, he served in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs as Director in Japan/North America and in the World Bank Divisions. Thereafter, he worked as Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington DC from 2008 to 2012.
He completed Executive Education at Harvard University on Trade Negotiations in 2005. He was a visiting fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, USA for one year in 2012-13, Centre for Advanced Study of India, and Visiting Research Scholar in Stonehill College in 2018-19.
