Traffic Movement on Hyderabad- Vijayawada Route Suspended Due to Rains

Hyderabad: The Incessant rains have led to water logging of roads. Due to this, vehicular traffic between Telangana and AP states has come to a halt. Chimiryala river is in spate at Ramapuram on the Telangana-AP border. The flood water from Kodada is flowing downwards. Water entered the national highway at Nallabandagudem. Due to this, a large number of vehicles were stranded at the inter-State check post.
The Munneru tank in Aitavaram village of Nandigama mandal from NTR district is flowing over national highway. The authorities have completely stopped vehicular movement due to knee-deep flooding on the highway. Police and revenue officials have taken precautionary measures to prevent vehicles from coming onto the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway. As part of this, vehicles were stopped at Chilakallu toll plaza on Hyderabad side and Keesara toll plaza on Vijayawada side. As a result, the highway came to a complete standstill. Nandigama RDO Ravinder Rao said that no one would be allowed on the highway till the flood recedes.
RTC bus stuck in Nagu
An RTC bus got stuck in Paleru stream at Nallabandagudem. All the 30 passengers in the bus reached the shore safely. RTC buses from Vijayawada to Hyderabad were stopped by the authorities as water entered the roads. Due to this, the passengers faced a lot of difficulties at Vijayawada bus stand.
Due to heavy rains in Kodada area of Suryapet district, streams and rivulets are overflowing. Two bodies were found in the floodwaters of the town. Two cars and an auto-rickshaw were washed away in a stream near Vaishnavi School. Locals complained to the authorities that a body was found in the car. The deceased has been identified as Ravi. Another body was found in Srimannarayana Colony. The deceased has been identified as Venkateshwarlu, a teacher from Srinivasanagar. He was on his way home on a bike on Saturday night when he went missing in the floods. His body was found on Sunday.
The Flood water is flowing from the top of the dividers in the town. Rescue operations were carried out. Traffic on Ananthagiri and Mellacheruvu roads has been completely stopped. Nayanagar was caught in the water logging after a large pond in Kodada breached. People are panicky as low-lying areas are inundated. Traffic on the National Highway to Hyderabad was severely disrupted due to flood water logging.
