TGSRTC to run special buses for Sankranti
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) management has made special arrangements for those going to their native places on the occasion of Sankranti festival. It has been decided to run 6432 special buses to ferry passengers safely to their destinations. Of these, 557 services have been provided with advance reservation facility.
A total of 4,484 special buses were planned for the last sankranthi festival. However, the corporation operated 5246 buses to cater to the rush of passengers. In view of the last Sankranthi experience, 6432 special buses have been arranged this time. These special buses will be available to passengers from January 9 to January 15. The corporation will operate special buses from crowded areas like MGBS, JBS, Uppal Crossroads, Aramgarh, LB Nagar Crossroads, KPHB, Boinpally, Gachibowli and other places in Hyderabad. Special officers have been appointed to arrange special buses to cater to the rush of passengers in the respective areas.
The corporation will operate special buses from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh. These buses will mainly ply to Amalapuram, Kakinada, Kandukuru, Narsapuram, Polavaram, Rajahmundry, Rajolu, Udayagiri, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Ongole, Guntur, Vijayawada, Srisailam, Tirupati and other places. The company has also arranged special buses for those returning from Telangana as well as Andhra Pradesh.
It plans to make electric buses available to passengers from Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Warangal this Sankranthi.
The TGSRTC management has already instructed the field officials to be fully prepared to ensure that sankranthi operations are very crucial for TGSRTC. Pandals, shamianas, chairs, public address system, drinking water facility and mobile toilets will be set up in crowded areas of Hyderabad for the convenience of passengers.
As part of the state government's Mahalaxmi scheme, free bus transport facility for women will be implemented in Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary and Metro Express buses running for Sankranthi. Women must take zero tickets during their journey. People have been advised not to travel dangerously in private vehicles. Those going to their hometowns for Sankranthi have been asked to reach their destinations safely in special buses arranged by TGSRTC.
