TGSRTC to Promote Transgender Inclusion

Hyderabad: A significant stride toward transgender inclusion in public spaces was made today as Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) launched posters creating awareness campaign in collaboration with prominent NGOs. The initiative will feature educational posters across all bus depots and stations across Telangana.
VC Sajjanar, IPS, Managing Director of TGSRTC, launched the posters campaign on Trans Visibility Day, demonstrating the corporation's commitment to creating inclusive public transportation environments.
The initiative was spearheaded by Munkunda Mala, founder of the Queer Bandhu Parents Association and mother of a transgender person, and Rev. Fr. Anthony Madanu, executive director of the Hyderabad Archdiocese Social Service Society (HASSS), operating under the guidance of Cardinal Poola Anthony, chairman of HASSS. These organisations, dedicated to transgender rights advocacy and livelihood support, proposed the inclusivity program to TGSRTC, which embraced the opportunity to foster a more accepting atmosphere.
"Public spaces belong to everyone, regardless of gender identity," said TGSRTC MD VC Sajjanar, IPS, during the inauguration. "Through these posters, we affirm our dedication to ensuring transgender individuals experience safety and respect while using our transportation services." The informational materials, strategically placed throughout the TGSRTC network, aim to educate the public about transgender rights and encourage respectful interactions, creating more welcoming environments for transgender individuals.
"This visibility campaign represents a crucial step toward public education and acceptance," stated Fr Anthony Madanu and Munkunda Mala jointly. "We appreciate TGSRTC's proactive approach to making public transportation accessible and comfortable for everyone in our community."
