Hyderabad: In line with the ambitious Musi Rejuvenation Project, the Municipal Administration department has authorised the release of funds amounting to Rs37.50 crore to the Musi River Development Corporation, aimed at providing financial support to those displaced.
Each of the 15,000 families relocating from the Musi riverbed will receive Rs25,000. Officials have indicated that the evacuation process for residents of Musi will be ongoing.
The State government has previously committed to providing two-bedroom homes for the displaced individuals, with some evacuees already receiving allocations for such accommodations.
Principal Secretary of the Municipal Administration department, M Dana Kishore, announced that a Government Order was previously issued to allocate 16,000 houses in various areas of the city to individuals displaced by the Musi River.
A survey was undertaken over several months across three districts along the Musi River, during which Revenue officials identified 10,200 structures located in the riverbed and buffer zone. Additionally, a house-to-house survey was conducted under the oversight of District Collectors to ascertain the presence of individuals affected by this situation, according to Dana Kishore.
He emphasised that following the rehabilitation process, encroachments would be removed, and compensation would be provided to each eligible victim in accordance with the law.
Now, the Musi Rejuvenation project is set to advance significantly with the allocation of Rs37.50 crore designated for the benefit of those displaced by the Musi River.
