Telangana Assembly Speaker unveils National Sports Day poster in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar along with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar unveiled a poster of National Sports Day at LB Stadium here on Monday.

The poster releasing programme was organised as part of the National Sports Day celebrations, which is observed on August 29, the birth anniversary of Padma Bhushan Major Dhyan Chand.

State Sports Advisor and former MP Jithender Reddy, Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy, Principal Secretary Vani Prasad and Khairatabad DCC President Rohin Reddy also attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnala Prabhakar said the poster and logo were released to mark the birth anniversary celebrations of Major Dhyan Chand.

He said the chief minister has decided to promote sports in a big way across the Telangana State and as part of the endeavour, the State government is setting up a Sports University, similar to the one the chief minister has seen during his recent visit to South Korea.

"The State government's aim is to bring out the hidden talent of sports enthusiasts in rural areas. Moreover, the State government is working to become a number one State in sports in the days to come, encouraging students to excel in sports from the school level. To achieve this, the Sports Day celebrations will be held grandly," Ponnam Prabhakar said.
