Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Monday delivered a crucial verdict, stating that it cannot interfere with the exam process at this stage and refused to issue interim orders.

The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) had already scheduled the Group-1 mains exams to take place from October 21 to 27.

Meanwhile, some candidates had approached the Supreme Court requesting a postponement, citing issues with GO 29.

A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud heard the plea and ruled that it cannot delay the exams under the current circumstances. As a result, the exams will proceed as per the schedule, with the first exam set to begin at 2 PM on Monday.

The decision has brought relief to the candidates preparing for the exams, although there was tension among those who had sought a postponement.

The Supreme Court’s ruling is a significant development for the Telangana government, as it allows the exams to proceed without any further delays. Some candidates had argued that GO 29 would disadvantage those seeking reservations, while the government maintained that no harm would come to any group. The Court ultimately dismissed the petition for postponement, allowing the exams to move forward.

CM Revanth reacts to SC verdict

Shortly after the Supreme Court's decision, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy took to his official Twitter account to wish the Group-1 aspirants good luck. He urged them to stay calm and focus on their exams, expressing hope that they will succeed and become contributors to the reconstruction of Telangana. His message has since gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud also welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision, calling it a positive step. He praised the court for supporting the Congress government's efforts to provide good, high-ranking jobs to Telangana’s youth. He encouraged the candidates to take advantage of this rare opportunity, which comes after 13 years, and pursue prestigious positions.

The TPCC president emphasised that the Congress has consistently supported Group-1 aspirants and reiterated that GO 29 would not cause harm to those seeking reservations.

He criticised the BJP and BRS parties for using the Group-1 candidates for political gain. Mahesh Kumar Goud has conveyed his best wishes to all those appearing for the exams, urging them to stay calm and secure a bright future.
