SCR Undertakes ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ Cleanliness Campaign

Hyderabad: South Central Railway has undertaken ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ cleanliness campaign from September 14 to October 1 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission with the theme of ‘Swabhav Swachhata – Sankskaar Swachhata’. As part of the same, Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, administered the Swachhata pledge to officials and staff on Tuesday at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad.
The General Manager also led a walkathon to spread awareness among public and promote the Swachh Bharat mission. The General Manager planted saplings towards strengthening green environment during the program. Neeraj Agarwal, Additional General Manager, SCR; Principal Heads of the Departments, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and other officials were also present. Railway staff and students of Railway school also participated in large numbers. The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign will culminate on October 2 and will be celebrated as Sewa Diwas (Community Service Day) to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign aims to bring awareness on the importance of ‘Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat’ mission among the public, Rail users and Railway fraternity. Towards this direction, several activities are scheduled to be undertaken to bring further improvement in the level of cleanliness at Railway stations, trains and Railway offices,. Extensive awareness campaigns will also be carried out to educate people on observing good cleanliness habits.
The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign has three main pillars of activities –Swachhata Ki Bhaagidari (includes awareness & cleanliness dialogue with public, Swachhata competitions, clean food, recycling products, cultural activities and so on; Sampoorna Swachhata through Shramdaan, including Swachhata Lakshit (includes cleanliness drive with peoples shramdaan focusing on general cleanliness across urban and rural areas with focus on community assets like water bodies, roads, railway stations, garbage dumps, nallahs, etc.), Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs (health & welfare camps for preventive health care treatment).
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Kumar Jain advised the staff and students to adhere to the Swachhata pledge and actively participate in the Swachhata campaign. He also advised them to encourage family members and neighbours to take part in the Swachh Bharat mission. The General Manager stated that Swachhata is not just a one day activity but should be followed each and every day. We should always strive to keep our surroundings clean whether it is at home or at workplace, he said.
